Release the Salmon

We are thrilled to share that over 11,500 Coho Salmon have been successfully released into the wild from Lincoln Park Zoo. This exciting event drew families and wildlife enthusiasts who gathered to witness a crucial step in protecting our Great Lakes.

Over the past year, our dedicated team has raised these salmon to help combat the invasive Alewives species threatening the lake's ecosystem. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) initially collects the salmon eggs and, after hatching, brings the young salmon to us at about six months old.
