NEWGLSF operates one of the premier Cold-Water Trout and Salmon Rearing Facilities along Wisconsin’s East Coast at the Manitowoc Lincoln Park Zoo. Our dedicated efforts have resulted in the successful raising and release of over 6,000,000 trout and salmon into Lake Michigan, enhancing the experience for sport fishermen. Over the past few years, we have invested nearly $20,000 in improvements to our facility to ensure the highest standards of fish rearing.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Fish Derby
We willingly dedicate our time and efforts to assist in coordinating and hosting the Manitowoc County Big Brothers Big Sisters Kids Fish Derby, an annual event held at the Seagull Marina in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.
Local Fishing Clubs/Camps
We have proudly sponsored various local high school fishing teams and summer camps to contribute to the growth and development of their fishing programs. Our support aims to empower these young anglers, providing them with the resources and encouragement they need to hone their skills and foster a deeper love for the sport of fishing.
Annual Spring Banquet
Every year, without fail, we gather together in celebration to host our eagerly anticipated Spring Banquet. This cherished event serves a dual purpose: fostering a sense of togetherness and camaraderie, while also acting as a crucial fundraiser for the upkeep of our rearing pond.
Through the generous financial contributions raised at this renowned banquet, we are able to provide vital resources and educational opportunities to the budding anglers of tomorrow. Join us in supporting our mission and ensuring the continued success of our rearing facilities and the future of trout and salmon fishing in the Great Lakes.
Supporting Community and Education
In addition to our rearing facility, NEWGLSF proudly sponsors the Lincoln Park Zoo’s Lake Michigan Fish and Invasive Species Display. This exhibit educates the public about the diverse aquatic life in Lake Michigan and the challenges posed by invasive species.
Our commitment to the Manitowoc Lincoln Park Zoo extends further through our dedicated volunteers. Each year, they enhance the park's holiday spirit by setting up and taking down Christmas lights for the month-long event, contributing to the zoo's festive atmosphere and community engagement.
By participating in these initiatives, we support educational outreach and community improvement, reinforcing our dedication to preserving and celebrating the natural heritage of the Great Lakes region.
